MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join a major data centre construction project in Finsterwalde, Germany.
Working for a leading international engineering contractor, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of all mechanical construction activities on a large-scale data centre project. You will be responsible for leading site delivery from pre-mobilisation through to commissioning and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Project Manager with construction planning, scheduling, and project execution
- Assisting with project validation, site establishment, and mobilisation activities
- Reviewing construction drawings, risk assessments, and method statements
- Supporting implementation of site safety, quality, and environmental procedures
- Developing short-term programmes and look-ahead plans aligned to the master programme
- Monitoring productivity and ensuring programme milestones are achieved
- Managing and coordinating subcontractors and site activities
- Attending and chairing site meetings with subcontractors and project stakeholders
- Ensuring variations are identified and communicated to the project team
- Maintaining site records, progress reports, and site diaries
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other construction disciplines
- Driving collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and construction teams
- Taking ownership of site issues and implementing effective solutions
- Ensuring toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings are carried out
- Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all HSEQ requirements
- Conducting regular site inspections and safety audits
- Coordinating delivery of materials, plant, and equipment to site
- Managing inspection and testing activities throughout installation works
- Ensuring quality standards are maintained and working towards zero snag delivery
- Supporting commissioning, testing, and final handover activities
- Assisting with site demobilisation and project close-out activities
- Supporting commercial and quantity surveying functions where required
- Maintaining the company's professional reputation on site at all times
- Other duties as required
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A recognised mechanical trade qualification such as Pipefitting, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, or similar
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Construction Management position
- Previous experience delivering large-scale mechanical construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site delivery processes
- Excellent planning, organisational, and coordination skills
- Strong leadership experience managing subcontractors and site teams
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project controls
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong IT and reporting skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative and manage multiple priorities
Desirable Experience
- Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical project experience
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
- IOSH Environmental Management qualification
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience working on major European construction projects
- Experience managing commissioning and project handover activities
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with design teams and external stakeholders
