Field Service Engineer

MC Technical Recruitment is currently looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer on behalf of a well-established, global engineering business.

This role will involve providing service and maintenance support on mechanical and electrical systems for biogas and CO2 installations across the UK, carrying out both corrective and preventive maintenance and repair work within the Sustainable Process Solutions team. You will report to the Team Leader for On-Site Service & Planning and will be a key point of contact for customers across the Cambridge, Ipswich, Northampton and Leicester areas.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Carrying out preventive and corrective service and maintenance activities on customer sites, in accordance with the work order

- Working from planning schedules, drawings and service contracts, in line with national and international regulations

- Discussing the scope, approach and planning of each work assignment with the Team Leader (Service)

- Troubleshooting, identifying, analysing and repairing faults on biogas and CO2 systems out in the field

- Preparing and checking required materials, parts and tools before transport to site, and managing them once on site

- Arranging replenishment of parts, tools or materials locally or via the wider organisation as required

- Producing service reports and hour/progress reports for each job, and communicating progress verbally and by email

- Carrying out interim and final checks, and flagging any additional or reduced work to the Team Leader

- Stopping or rejecting work where a situation is deemed unsafe

- Taking ownership of site safety and EHS matters, and complying with all quality standards

- Participating in a 24/7 on-call rota on a regular basis

- Other duties as required

To be considered for this role you should have:

- A completed qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline

- Approximately 3 years' experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar hands-on service role

- Knowledge of refrigeration and industrial gas systems, including pressure equipment, is preferred

- Exposure to gas compressors, rotating machinery or gas process technologies would be an advantage

- Working knowledge of electro-technical components such as sensors and frequency drives

- Familiarity with PLC technology; the ability to programme PLCs would be a strong advantage

- Mechanical engineering knowledge of pumps and pneumatic valves

- A solid understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality regulations

- Fluent spoken and written English; additional languages such as Dutch, German, Italian or French are a bonus

- A full UK driving licence, given the field-based, multi-site nature of the role

- VCA VOL certification or equivalent secured working qualification is desirable
