Control and Instrumentation Engineer, Distributed Generation

Up to €84,000 per annum

Dublin (Fitzwilliam 27) – nationwide travel required

MC Technical Recruitment is currently looking to recruit a Control and Instrumentation Engineer.

This role will involve supporting the Engineering and Asset Management function within the Renewable Operations Distributed Generation team, with a specific focus on grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar farms, open cycle gas turbine technology and grid support technologies such as synchronous condensers.

As a Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide Controls and Instrumentation support in the area of battery energy storage (BESS), solar, synchronous condensers and gas turbine technology and their related auxiliaries, with other technologies to be incorporated in future.
  • Supervise on-site activities of contractors and subcontractors for Controls and Instrumentation scope, playing a leading role in commissioning (e.g. loop checks, function checks, protection tests).
  • Lead and execute the delivery of Controls and Instrumentation site work scopes on overhauls and new assets, ensuring compliance with statutory and technical requirements.
  • Drive Controls and Instrumentation engineering excellence by aligning internal standards, specifications and working practices with business needs and industry norms.

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • 7 years' relevant working experience in a Controls and Instrumentation role in the generation sector or a comparable industry.
  • A 3rd level qualification in Engineering or equivalent, with considerable experience in Controls and Instrumentation technologies.
  • Significant competence in generating plant Controls and Instrumentation systems, including DCS and PLC systems, OT environment, HMI and control networks, field instrumentation, plant protection and safety systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and deliver large and/or complex Controls and Instrumentation projects and teams.
  • Significant experience of power plant operations and maintenance technologies, systems, procedures and practices.
  • Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel nationally and internationally.
