MC Technical Recruitment is currently looking to recruit a Shift Manager to join an established Energy from Waste power station in the Kent area. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a modern EfW facility, overseeing plant operations and supporting the operations team in delivering strong environmental, safety, and performance results.
As the Shift Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and supervising daily operations of the EfW plant
- Leading a team of operational staff, ensuring performance and compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Acting as the senior on-site representative during your shift, including as Incident Controller in emergencies
- Driving continuous improvement, identifying performance opportunities, and implementing operational changes
- Supporting coordination of maintenance activities and safe system of work procedures
- Managing contractor activities and ensuring site-wide communication between teams
- Leading root cause investigations and incident reporting processes
- Supporting recruitment, training, and development of the operational team
- Ensuring effective communication between departments to maintain operational excellence
- Working 5 days a week (40hrs)
- Other duties as required
To be considered, you should have:
- Previous experience in a similar role within Energy from Waste, Power Generation, or another high-hazard industrial sector
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team in a 24/7 operational environment
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to take responsibility and make confident decisions under pressure
- Strong technical understanding of EfW processes, turbines, boilers, or control room operations
