DCS Engineer – Energy from Waste

MC Technical Recruitment is currently recruiting for a DCS Engineer to join an established Energy from Waste (EfW) Power Station in the Kent area. This is a great opportunity to join a leading organisation in the power generation sector, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

As a DCS Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the maintenance and development of the site's Distributed Control System (DCS) and other control systems
  • Managing DCS and process control upgrades and improvement projects
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for control system faults
  • Administering system access, backups, and security protocols
  • Supporting the operation and maintenance of field systems including turbine and emissions controls
  • Developing monitoring tools and control logic to optimise performance
  • Supporting planned and unplanned outages, shutdowns, and contractor activities
  • Staying current with software upgrades and evaluating their relevance to plant operations

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A recognised qualification or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience within Power Generation, Energy from Waste, or similar heavy industrial sectors (e.g. Cement, Paper)
  • Experience with control systems, ideally Yokogawa Centum VP and Exaquantum
  • Familiarity with PLCs, Siemens S7, and industrial communication protocols
  • Project management experience
  • Experience using CMMS and a strong understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently or within a team
