MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join a major data centre construction project in Finsterwalde, Germany.

Working for a leading international engineering contractor, this is an excellent opportunity to take commercial ownership of a flagship data centre project. You will work closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Manager, and construction teams to drive commercial performance, manage risk, and ensure successful project delivery.

As Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking full ownership of the commercial and contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Acting as the primary commercial interface with the client's commercial and contract teams
  • Managing project procurement activities, including mechanical subcontractor packages
  • Conducting detailed cost control, forecasting, and risk analysis
  • Reviewing client, consultant, and subcontractor correspondence and identifying contractual risks and opportunities
  • Managing subcontractor commercial performance, including valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Producing accurate cost reports, margin forecasts, and cashflow reports
  • Managing change control procedures and negotiating variations with clients
  • Preparing and submitting monthly valuations and applications for payment
  • Managing project budgets and ensuring commercial objectives are achieved
  • Driving agreement of final accounts in a professional and timely manner
  • Working closely with project delivery teams to maximise project performance
  • Supporting commercial strategy and project decision-making processes
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
  • Other duties as required

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within Mechanical or M&E contracting
  • Experience delivering Data Centre, Mission Critical, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or similar complex construction projects
  • Strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement activities
  • Strong knowledge of change management, valuations, and final account negotiations
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to engage confidently with clients, consultants, and senior project stakeholders
  • A proactive approach to managing commercial risk and project performance
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working on large-scale European data centre projects
  • Experience managing complex mechanical packages on major construction projects
  • Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, or other standard forms of contract
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Experience working within a fast-paced mission-critical environment
