MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to join a major data centre construction project in Finsterwalde, Germany.
Working for a leading international engineering contractor, this is an excellent opportunity to support the planning and successful delivery of a large-scale data centre project. You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial Teams, and Site Management to develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget.
As the Project Planner, you will be responsible for:
- Acting as the primary point of contact for all project planning activities
- Reviewing contract documentation and identifying key programme and reporting requirements
- Developing construction schedules based on project scope and work breakdown structures
- Supporting client schedule negotiations and programme development
- Labour loading schedules using commercial hours and quantities data
- Developing project trackers, dashboards, and reporting templates
- Producing fully integrated project schedules alongside project teams and main contractors
- Monitoring weekly progress, productivity, and programme performance
- Identifying programme risks, constraints, and potential delays
- Supporting bid submissions with schedules and planning information
- Facilitating planning meetings and programme review sessions
- Validating and optimising project schedules throughout the project lifecycle
- Producing S-curves, histograms, phasing plans, and build methodologies
- Supporting risk identification and mitigation activities
- Providing early warnings and programme advice to project management teams
- Monitoring package progress, productivity, and labour performance
- Chairing and facilitating weekly look-ahead meetings where required
- Producing installation progress reports and earned value reporting
- Managing schedule revisions and maintaining programme accuracy
- Producing weekly look-ahead and retrospective planning reports
- Escalating programme risks and critical issues to senior planning management
- Other duties as required
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Previous experience within a Project Planning role on construction or engineering projects
- Experience developing and managing project schedules throughout the project lifecycle
- Strong understanding of project controls, programme management, and reporting processes
- Ability to interpret technical, commercial, and construction information to develop project programmes
- Experience monitoring progress, productivity, and project performance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- High attention to detail and analytical skills
Desirable Experience
- Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical project experience
- Experience working on large-scale European construction projects
- Experience with labour loading, earned value reporting, and progress measurement
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent planning software
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and reporting tools
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments
