MC Technical Recruitment is currently seeking an Operations Technician to join the process team of a well-established Energy from Waste facility in the Kent area. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a cutting-edge power generation environment, contributing to the safe, efficient operation of a modern EfW plant.
As the Operations Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Operating the plant via a Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure optimal performance
- Supporting safe daily operations and coordinating activities across maintenance and operational teams
- Managing and ensuring compliance with site health, safety, and environmental policies
- Administering safe systems of work and supporting permit-to-work processes
- Monitoring plant conditions and responding to alarms and system changes
- Conducting operational checks, site inspections, and contributing to continuous improvement activities
- Assisting in plant start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency response
- Acting as a Fire Marshal and First Aider where required
- Supporting contractors and facilitating coordination with cleaning and I/O teams
- Other duties as required
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Experience in a similar role within Power Generation, Energy from Waste, or heavy process industries (e.g. Refinery, Cement, Paper, etc.)
- Familiarity with DCS operations and safe systems of work
- Strong understanding of plant processes, health & safety regulations, and environmental compliance
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
