MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join a major data centre construction project in Germany.
Working for a leading international engineering contractor, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the electrical engineering delivery across a flagship data centre project. You will play a critical role throughout the project lifecycle, from design review and procurement through to commissioning, energisation, and final handover, ensuring all electrical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading electrical engineering delivery throughout the project lifecycle
- Reviewing and challenging electrical designs to identify risks, clashes, and technical issues at an early stage
- Providing technical leadership and making key engineering decisions where required
- Ensuring power distribution systems, cable sizing, protection schemes, and system designs are suitable for operational requirements
- Managing technical submittals and driving approvals in line with project programmes
- Supporting procurement activities and ensuring equipment complies with project specifications
- Coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure equipment is delivered in line with project milestones
- Working closely with BIM and design teams to ensure designs are fully coordinated and buildable
- Coordinating electrical engineering activities with mechanical, CSA, and commissioning teams
- Managing electrical quality inspections, walkdowns, and installation reviews
- Overseeing test packs, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), First of Type Approvals (FTOPs), and handover documentation
- Supporting and leading commissioning activities alongside vendors and specialist contractors
- Managing vendor performance and ensuring technical standards are achieved
- Acting as the primary escalation point for electrical engineering issues on site
- Supporting client technical reviews, meetings, and stakeholder engagement
- Ensuring systems are delivered in accordance with design specifications, project requirements, and industry standards
- Driving continuous improvement across engineering and project delivery processes
- Other duties as required
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer, or similar position on major construction projects
- Strong Data Centre, Mission Critical, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, or Infrastructure project experience
- Extensive knowledge of power distribution systems and critical electrical infrastructure
- Strong understanding of UPS systems, standby generation, and redundancy philosophies
- Experience supporting installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple technical and programme priorities simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience delivering hyperscale or colocation data centre projects
- Experience working on large-scale European construction projects
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Knowledge of BIM coordination and digital engineering processes
- Experience working with major electrical equipment vendors and specialist contractors
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation
