MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join a major data centre construction project in Finsterwalde, Germany.

Working for a leading international engineering contractor, this is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and promoting the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance across a large-scale data centre project. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Subcontractors, and Stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislation, company procedures, and client requirements.

As Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing advice, guidance, and support on all Health, Safety and Environmental matters across the project
  • Promoting a positive safety culture and leading by example at all times
  • Supporting Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, and Subcontractors with EHS requirements
  • Conducting site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews
  • Preparing and implementing project-specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans
  • Reviewing and maintaining Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Identifying training requirements and delivering toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness training
  • Monitoring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and statutory legislation
  • Investigating incidents, accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences
  • Carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions
  • Producing EHS reports, KPI reports, and site performance data
  • Monitoring trends and recommending continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting contractor approval processes and ensuring only competent contractors are engaged
  • Maintaining site safety files, registers, records, and associated documentation
  • Ensuring first aid equipment, emergency arrangements, and welfare facilities are maintained
  • Monitoring PPE compliance and advising site management on safety requirements
  • Attending project meetings, safety meetings, and coordination meetings
  • Supporting environmental management initiatives and sustainability objectives
  • Promoting company safety incentive programmes and workforce engagement activities
  • Issuing non-conformance reports and monitoring corrective actions where required
  • Supporting external audits and client inspections
  • Keeping up to date with current legislation, standards, and industry best practice
  • Other duties as required

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within a Health, Safety and Environmental role
  • Previous experience within Data Centres, Construction, Engineering, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, or Mission Critical environments
  • Diploma Level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience developing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Experience working with subcontractors and multiple project stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Desirable Experience

  • Environmental Management qualification
  • Internal ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Auditor qualification
  • First Aid qualification
  • Train the Trainer qualification
  • IOSH Membership or equivalent professional membership
  • Experience working on large-scale European Data Centre projects
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and contractor management processes
